Tentative Itinerary

As always, the tour starts and ends in Europe allowing you to select the most favorable air fare from your home country. TLC Doll Tours are designed for pairs of friends and couples. We do not pair roommates for tours.

The tour starts with a very easy pace, eliminating the need to allow extra days at the beginning to recover from jet lag. (There will be no coach travel until the third day.) We stay a minimum of two nights in every “Little Gem,” allowing you time for group activities, independent exploration or simply sitting in the square, absorbing the ambience. For week two we have a home base, Coburg, from where we will do full-day or half-day excursions. Details of the festivities surrounding Puppenfestival International will be announced via the web site as they are published by the new owners of the festival.

Homeward Flights

Passports/Visas:

You are responsible for having the required travel documents for visiting the EU.  At this time American, Australian, New Zealander and Canadian citizens are not required to have visas for visits of less than 90 days. However, we must present a passport that is valid for three months beyond our departure from the EU.

Canadian Requirements: http://visaservicescanada.ca/countries/schengen.php

American Requirements: https://travel.state.gov/content/passports/en/go/schengen-fact-sheet.html

Australian Requirements: http://smartraveller.gov.au/bulletins/Pages/europe_schengen.aspx

New Zealand Requirements: https://www.safetravel.govt.nz/travel-tips-travel-europe

Luggage:

You are limited to one 24 or 26 inch suitcase with wheels and one airlines approved carry-on.  A small backpack or a "Longchamps-type” folding tote bag is the preferred carry-on for TLC. Hard-sided roll aboard bags are allowed by the airlines, but unfortunately, they are too large for the bus. They will be placed in the luggage compartment as space permits. You will receive a TLC Doll Tours zippered tote bag, suitable for carrying daily necessities to and from your hotel room and the coach. The general rule of "thumb" is that if you cannot lift your fully packed suitcase with one hand, it is too heavy for the airlines and too heavy to expect our coach driver to handle. Suitcases larger than 26 inches or weighing more than 50 lbs. will not be accepted on the coach.

Walking:

The nature of European cities dictates that the only way to see the sites is by walking. Many of the central old city streets are not accessible by coach and you may be required to walk up to ½ mile to reach a destination.  While every consideration is given to the general age and physical condition of our guests, stairs and uphill walks are sometimes unavoidable. You must be able to walk easily and securely to be comfortable in European cities. TLC Doll Tours is unable to accommodate guests requiring more than a cane for mobility.

Itinerary:

Every tour itinerary is considered tentative to allow us the opportunity to add an activity or an excursion that is announced after our tour information has been published.

For example, the special exhibits at several museums have not yet been announced.

Itinerary bus departure times are not approximate. Your promptness and consideration for the group is always appreciated.

Airline Tickets:

The 2018 Tour begins in Basel, Switzerland and ends in Munich, Germany. You need to select an “ open jaw” ticket to arrive in Basel and leave from Munich.
The first activity for the group will be the welcome dinner Saturday evening, 28 April.

The final Saturday night of the tour will be spent at the Munich Airport Hilton, where we will have our farewell dinner. This convenient airport hotel stay allows you to  book any flight that suits you for Sunday, without the necessity for taxi or shuttle transportation to the airport.

We recommend that you select one of the Star Alliance Airlines to give you more latitude of choice when arriving and departing from the EU. The Star Alliance Airlines group includes United, Air Canada, Lufthansa, Swiss, Singapore airlines and others. http://www.staralliance.com/en/home

Travel Insurance:

We recommend that you arrange for travel insurance at the same time as you book your flight tickets. Most of the best priced air tickets are non-refundable, as is the price of the tour. Several insurance providers are listed under the “Travel FAQs” tab on our website.
In recent years, it has been our personal experience that our VISA or American Express Credit Card company provides the most comprehensive and reasonable package.

Meals & Beverages:
All the tour hotels provide a large and varied breakfast buffet each morning. TLC Tours provides snacks, fruit and water on board the coach. Most evenings the group will be served a three-course meal with a choice of a water,  wine or beer. Additional beverages and spirits are available at your own charge.
We do not include lunch in the tour package because experience has shown us that the amount of food provided at breakfast and dinner is more than most of our tour members are accustomed to or comfortable eating.

While we are able to offer diabetic/vegetarian options for those who advise of this need in advance, we are unable to guarantee gluten-free meals in Europe. The menus are selected weeks in advance to offer variety, seasonal fresh foods and traditional local dishes. In the EU you should expect to be served pork and fish as well as poultry and beef. Meal substitutions from the set menu will create an additional charge to the tour member.

Payment Schedule:
*Payment for the tour will be divided into three payments:
September €1000
October €1000
January €1400, with adjustment for exchange rate

The Fine Print:
The tour price is non-refundable. To the fullest extent permitted by law, the tour member agrees to indemnify, and hold harmless TLC Doll Tours, its elected and appointed officials, employees and volunteers and others working on behalf of TLC Doll Tours against any and all claims, demands, suits or loss, including all costs connected therewith, and for any damages which may be asserted, claimed or recovered against or from TLC Doll Tours, its elected and appointed officials, employees, volunteers or others working on behalf of TLC Doll Tours, by reason of personal injury, including bodily injury or death and/or property damage, including loss of use thereof, which arises out of or is in any way connected or associated with this contract.
